Resumé

Dr. George Wiafe is the Head of Department of Oceanography and Fisheries, University of Ghana and Co-ordinator of the GCLME Productivity and Biodiversity Centre. His area of expertise is modelling marine plankton communities and application of remote sensing in the marine ecosystem. He has led several scientific projects and conducted training programmes for African marine scientists. These include CPR survey in the GCLME, Darwin Initiative on Marine Resource Conservation and Biodiversity, HAB monitoring, and Ghana-Poland plankton genetics. Currently he is lead investigator of the coastal and shelf processes project in the Gulf of Guinea, under the Africa Partnership Station. He has published extensively in local and international journals and in book sections.
