Former GESAMP Chair Peter Wells presented "GESAMP: An Ocean Science-Policy Interface Standing the Test of Time" at the biennial joint conference of ACCESS and the Bay of Fundy Ecosystem Partnership (BoFEP).
Former GESAMP Chair Peter Wells – speaking on behalf of himself and current Chair W. Watson-Wright – recently delivered an oral presentation at the biannual joint conference of ACCESS and the Bay of Fundy Ecosystem Partnership (BoFEP), held from May 19–22 in Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada. His talk was titled: ‘GESAMP: an Ocean Science‑Policy Interface Standing the Test of Time’.
Wells used the platform to highlight GESAMP’s unique and lasting contribution as a bridge between marine science and policy, underscoring its relevance decades after its founding. The conference theme, ‘connecting communities to ocean science’, provided a fitting backdrop.
The audience, composed largely of students and Early Career Ocean Professionals, participated actively in the subsequent discussions, demonstrating a keen interest in GESAMP's science-policy model.
