The Atmospheric Input of Trace Species to the World Ocean

Chemicals, both natural and man-made, reach the oceans by a number of routes, including rivers, direct dumping, and via the atmosphere. The first two paths have been studied for several decades, but it is only relatively recently that it has become possible to estimate the amounts of material entering the oceans from the atmosphere.
